Alberti-lite pattern
Play a simple low-high-middle-high accompaniment shape.
Why this matters
The Alberti pattern (low-high-middle-high) is the simplest 'broken chord' accompaniment and the texture under most early classical sonatinas. It teaches you to outline a chord rhythmically while one hand moves and the other holds melody.
What you should be able to do
Maintain the pattern through 8 chord changes without losing beat one.
Estimated focus time: 1.75h
How to practice this on your piano today
- 1. Take a C major chord: C-E-G. Play in this order: C (low), G (high), E (middle), G (high). Repeat.
- 2. The low note is on beat 1, then high-middle-high on beats 2-3-4.
- 3. Play 8 measures with this pattern under a held right-hand C.
- 4. Move to F major: F-A-C, with F as low and pattern F-C-A-C.
- 5. Aim for steady pulse through chord changes.
